Rajni is a hoop performing artist and in this class will teach kids basic hula-hooping skills combining them with fun activities. Hooping can be done for fun, exercise or performance. The benefits of hooping for kids include:
Coordination (maintaining stable balance and incorporate flexibility)
Core Strength (strengthening core muscles to keep the hoop at the waist)
Endurance (increasing the amount of time one can continuously hoop without getting tired or short of breath)
Flexibility (gaining range of motion in joints to get rid of a stiff and uncoordinated body)
Attention (learning a new task through focus and practising it to perfection)
Confidence (boosting self-confidence by mastering new moves with time)
The most important reason to hoop is that it is fun and makes us happy. It brings out a spontaneous playful side and boosts the life force inside all of us, which helps us concentrate on our other work and tasks better.
Rajni obtained her International Baccalaureate Diploma at the American School in Caracas, Venezuela and graduating in Fashion Design and Technology in India, and pursued her passion in dance at SDIPA. Subsequently, she worked with designer-artist Nitin Bal Chauhan in design and choreography aspects for Disney Couture at Lakmé Fashion Week, after which she performed over 400 shows in the Bollywood Musical ‘Zangoora – The Gypsy Prince’ at the Kingdom Of Dreams.
At Natya Nectar Dance Company she delved into designing costumes and training and performing acroyoga, aerial silks, hoop, cube, harness, acrobatic ball and Mallkhamb pole at platforms such as Times Now Amazing Indians Awards, Femina Miss India Delhi Pageant, Reebok Yoga Collection Launch, Mahindra 9th Meta Awards, Hero MotoCorp Launch in Colombia, and Sunburn 2014 to name a few.
Her recent endeavours include hoop acts in Teamwork’s Bollywood Extravaganza 2015 in Egypt, Russia and Shanghai; Empower Delhi: A Paint Our World Exhibition; Dance India Dance Season 5 Top 60; Royal Challenge ICC T20 Play Bold Anthem TVC; hoop choreography for the Hero Group; and The (Hoop) Journey at 6 Cube Gati Dance Forum.
While navigating the design and dance fields, she has a personal enthusiasm for social issues affecting India like cleanliness and women empowerment for which she takes part in cleanliness campaigns and uses dance and hooping as a medium to create awareness about these issues. Works supporting this include Clean-India Acrobatic Improvisation at Imagindia seminar; hooping for women empowerment in Gang of Girls; the short film “A Dream Caught: Clean-India Hooping” for Swachh Bharat Short Film Festival.
