This class is specifically targeted for students of the aerial arts to further enhance the skills and conditioning needed for improved performance. It will include Pilates-based isometric exercises to target key areas of the body. There will be movement work to find grace and performance quality that can be applied to aerial work. The movement will be using contemporary dance and ballet techniques. It is important for aerial students to also develop their skills as performers and find their own style, and this workshop is intended to help guide students through this process.
ABOUT LEAH
Leah Raphael Curtis is a choreographer, dancer and instructor from New York. Leah began her training early training in the Pacific Northwest where she danced with the Mt. Baker Ballet. Training at Walnut Hill School of the Arts and Cornish College of the Arts and on scholarship at Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Professional Program. She attended the Certificate program for Alvin Ailey in New York before gaining her B.A. Honours in Contemporary Dance from London Studio Centre, UK.
Leah is an established dance educator specialising in ballet, contemporary dance, improvisation technique and contact improvisation in India and overseas.
